We've worked with many great vendors around the DC area but here are a few we'd like to recommend for your event.
Missing Matsumoto's famous shave ice from the North Shore of Oahu? Look no further than Hula Honey's Hawaiian Shave Ice! Hula Honey's owners, Momi and Ramsay, lived in Hawaii (Aiea) and have nicely ground ice, along with an amazing number of flavors.
Have a food allergy? Looking for organic? Hula Honey's has searched high and low to find you delicious flavors for all your wants and needs. You can track their shave ice truck (actually a "tuk-tuk" from India) via Twitter and their Facebook page. Contact them via email or their Facebook page.
Their summer schedule fills, so you'll want to schedule them in advance if possible!
Want to dazzle your guests with a beautiful display of tropical fruit? We have right here in the DC/Baltimore area, the amazing and talented food artist Irene of Fruit Art USA.
Irene has been featured on numerous television productions around the US and Africa. She has even been featured on THE FOOD NETWORK. Her artistry and skills are unbelievable. She specializes in customizing displays and can carefully carve initials, names, pictures, delicate flowers, all sorts of things! Just let her know what you have in mind.
Baltimore has poke now! We met owners and brothers James & Jason while performing at the University of Maryland Baltimore's campus. The name says it all--"ono" means "delicious" in Hawaiian. Poke ("po-kay") is a fresh raw fish salad that's popular in Hawaii and gaining popularity on the mainland.
One Poke also has lots more ono food on the menu besides their poke bowls--loco moco, huli chicken, Hawaiian mac salad and haupia. Off-menu they can make pipikaula and/or kalua pig for your event.
Why put so much effort into planning your fabulous event and then have unflattering pictures from it--or worse, NO pictures because you were too busy running the event to take any!
Carl specializes in business photography, but just check out his portfolio or Instagram feed. He can make you food look amazing. He does lots of work for realtors photographing properties, so your venue can look amazing. He also does sports photography which means he can photography our fast dancing--something that takes a lot of skill.
Lastly, I've just gotta say he has a great eye for framing photographs and I'm particularly impressed with his ability to take photos in difficult lighting--bright mid-day sun and evening or dusk, which is when we often perform. Carl has also spent time in the islands and has a great love for them. We'd recommend him for any event!
We first learned about Pizza Nocciano from our friends at Hula Honey's Shave Ice. The two both sold food at College Park Day. Owners Tony and Daphne lived in Hawaii and know about ono food and Hawaiian plate lunches. Their Asia/Pacific plate menu includes kalua pork, Hawaiian style beef short ribs, teriyaki chicken, Hawaiian mac salad, Asian slaw with ginger sauce and yellow ginger garlic rice. They also make lumpia and tropical cream sodas--yum!
Tony and Daphne have a food cart and can be found at the Hollywood Farmers' Market in College Park on Saturdays serving some of their other ethnic cuisines (they also do European street food, Italian, Latin/Puerto Rican, etc.). They are available for catering and street festivals around the area. You can reach them through their newly started Facebook page or contact them directly by phone (240-416-3597) or email.
Need a bartender? Or a magician? Or BOTH? Look no further than the Magic Bartender. Lowell has been entertaining audiences up and down the East Coast and was even on stage with Penn and Teller in Las Vegas. We've seen him in person a number of times and he always has audiences wrapped around his finger--oooing, awwing and laughing.
Whether you're having a small event or wedding or large corporate event, Lowell can help make it memorable for your guests. He can also serve as an emcee.
You can check his availability by giving him a call at 410-692-5550.
Check out all of his certifications, reviews and videos on his website.
Deejay Matt Edmonds is a local treasure. He has a huge variety of music and genres in his collection. He is very skilled at reading crowds and playing music that gets everybody from young to old up dancing.
Matt is very flexible and will play your favorites, avoid the songs you don't like and give great advice about timing and music to play for special occasions such as weddings. Timing is everything!
On top of his ability to play the right music for your event, Matt is very talented at running trivia contests to make your event a little more lively and interactive. Check out his website so you can attend one of his upcoming gigs
We have never seen a vendor with a larger selection of tents than Select Event Group. As you can see from the picture they have regular tents, big tents and tents as big as the state of Delaware. ;)
Select Event Group has many, many other services: fine linens, tabletop and food service, equipment and decor. They've got everything!
Select Event Group operates worldwide but their corporate office is located close by in Laurel, MD.
We recently started making tshirts for our company--both for our dancers and clients. We were introduced to Show and Tell Tees and cannot believe how easy the process of designing and producing tees has been from start to finish.
Show and Tell Tees has a million colors, brands and sizes to choose from. They were so flexible with requests and have quickly answered our questions. One of the best parts is that they are so reasonably priced and quickly produced. We are excited to begin making them available on our website. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, check out their Facebook page!
